Longest Running Tool Organization Project
For one of my customers who works as a master mechanic, I have been making custom organizers since the foundation of Improve 3D. Each of these organizers is printed in the same silk purple PLA that he loves, now giving his entire box a uniform, personalized, and unique touch. This project and this post will continue to grow, as he expands his tool collection, and with it, the products to organize them.
This was the first wrench rack that I had modeled (the design has since had material removed from the base, while maintaining overall strength and durability). With it, were five sets of socket organizers and one unique socket set organizer (bottom left).
Each of the socket organizers are custom fitted to the each individual socket of the set, which allows for variation in sizing, which sometimes happens when tools are warrantied some time after the initial purchase and are replaced with updated or different models.
This design of wrench rack was specially created for groups of replaced or misfit wrenches and for smaller sets of specialty wrenches that conform to the lesser form factor.
The socket tray shown here is an example of a simple tray made to fit something like a smaller bit set where the bases of many individual sized sockets are the same. Either multiple iterations of the same set can be combined or different similar sets can be kept together (metric hex sockets, standard hex, and torx bits, for example).
Enjoy examples of some of these organizers below, and don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or similar style requests! This bulk of photos shows different group orders as well as an intermediate step in the manufacturing process. Organizers for sockets were made for different combinations of sets from Snap-On, Matco, BluePoint, Craftsman, GearWrench, and many more!
